1980 marked the evolutionary re-direction of Mongoose® Bicycles from a strictly juvenile bicycle maker into a full line bicycle maker. The Mongoose Factory Racing Team captured the first ever ABA National #1 Cruiser Title on a full size 26" wheel racing cruiser. During that period, Mongoose learned and developed a mountain of knowledge pertaining to the design and manufacturing of large wheel, high performance bicycles. A second National #1 Cruiser title was taken 1983. Then, in 1984 the Mongoose Factory Riders dominated the racing scene with an unprecedented 6 National #1 titles in the National Bicycle League. That same year, the 26", 15-speed Mongoose ATB, or All Terrain Bicycle, was introduced. The cumulative result of four years of engineering, competition and the skills of the best cruiser riders in the world. The incredible response from avid cyclists and quality bicycle dealers across the U.S. became the cornerstone for establishing Mongoose's reputation as a quality and performance adult bicycle maker.
